Vania Masías

Vania Masías is a professional ballerina and a social entrepreneur. She performed as a principal dancer for the Municipal Ballet of Lima, acting in main roles of the classical repertoire. After that, she performed as a modern dancer in Europe and the Caribbean, danced at the Irish National Ballet and was selected to perform for Cirque du Soleil. Later on, she decided to return to Lima to start Angeles D1, a self-sustaining social enterprise that provides artistic dance training for marginalized kids that are thus transformed into professional dancers. 

With Angeles D1 project, Vania Masías produced choreographies as well as musicals. She's now helped over 11,000 youth become more resilient to risky habits through the power of dance.

Vania Masías is an Ambassador of Marca Perú, won the Synacyd Social Innovation award, the Indecopi Insitutional award 2012, and the Esteban Campodónico award for service to society. GQ magazine named her as inspiration person of the year 2012, while Trome newspaper included her among the 11 most notable Peruvians of 2012. The City of Lima named her a Distinguished Citizen in 2009. She is member of the consulting council of the Ministry of Culture and member of the Board of Peru2021.
